MODESTO, CA (December 26, 2023) – Sunday morning, a horrific hit-and-run crash on State Route 99 near Beckwith Road killed one person.

The incident happened at around 5:10 a.m. along State Route 99, north of the Beckwith Road exit.

According to the California Highway Patrol Modesto station, a vehicle struck a male pedestrian and then fled the scene without providing aid.

Moreover, responders pronounced the victim who was lying on the west shoulder of the roadway, dead at the scene.

Furthermore, authorities believe that the suspect vehicle is best described as a vehicle of black color with front-end collision damage.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
