1 Dead in Ceres Pedestrian Accident on 1400 Hatch Road

CERES, CA (October 20, 2023) – Early Thursday morning, a horrific hit-and-run crash on 1400 Hatch Road killed 1 person.

The incident happened at about 3:10 a.m. in the 1400 block of Hatch Road.

According to reports, a hit-and-run driver of a tractor-trailer rig struck a 44-year-old male pedestrian.

When the authorities arrived, they located the victim in an eastbound lane with major injuries. However, despite life-saving measures, the pedestrian was declared dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the victim’s identity remained undisclosed due to pending family notification.

Ceres Police’s Traffic Unit Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) confirmed that the vehicle that hit the man was a tractor-trailer believed to be red with a gray or silver box trailer.

Witnesses said that the driver initially stopped after striking the man, went out of the cab to check on him went back in, and left the scene, driving eastbound on Hatch Road.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
