KANSAS CITY, MO (September 3, 2024) – Saturday night, a horrific hit-and-run crash near Truman Road and Manchester Trafficway killed one person.

The incident happened at around 7:00 p.m. near Truman Road and Manchester Trafficway.

According to reports, a westbound black Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling at a high rate of speed rear-ended a gray Nissan Altima that was stopped in the westbound inside lanes due to mechanical issues. Then, the force of the crash pushed the Nissan to crash with a Chevrolet HHR that was stopped with the Nissan. Also, the Nissan struck the driver of the Nissan who was standing outside the vehicle.

Moreover, authorities confirmed that the front-seat passenger of the Nissan died at the scene. Then, paramedics transported the driver of the Nissan to an area hospital in critical condition. Also, the driver of the Chevrolet was not hurt in the collision.

Furthermore, authorities confirmed that the driver of the black Jeep Grand Cherokee fled the scene on foot after the crash.
