1 Person Dead in Tucson Auto Accident on West Ajo Highway and Milepost 161

TUCSON, AZ (October 25, 2023) – Friday night, a horrific head-on crash on West Ajo Highway and Milepost 161 killed one person.

The incident happened at around 7:30 p.m. at milepost 161 on West Ajo Way.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a westbound vehicle traveling in the eastbound lanes collided head-on with another vehicle with three occupants.

Moreover, responders transported the three occupants of the victim’s vehicle and the wrong-way driver to a hospital where one of the victims was pronounced dead.

Furthermore, officers confirmed that the wrong-way driver will face multiple charges, including Aggravated DUI, Aggravated assault, Endangerment, and Criminal damage.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained at the scene. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the AZDPS continued to investigate the crash.
