2 People Dead in Phelan Auto Accident on Phelan Road near Tumbleweed Road

PHELAN, CA (April 16, 2024) – Sunday night, a horrific head-on crash on Phelan Road near Tumbleweed Road killed two people.

The incident happened at around 8:15 p.m. on Phelan Road, just east of Tumbleweed Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, an eastbound GMC veered to the left from the eastbound lanes into the westbound lanes where it collided head-on with a westbound Subaru.

The San Bernardino County Fire rushed to the scene and pronounced the driver of the Subaru, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics airlifted the female driver of the Subaru to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Also, authorities transported a young passenger of the SUV to a hospital with critical injuries.

Moreover, the crash closed Phelan Road for several hours but has long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
