1 Person Dead in Sutter County Auto Accident on Highway 99 near Sacramento Avenue

SUTTER COUNTY, CA (October 20, 2023) – Thursday morning, a horrific head-on crash on Highway 99 near Sacramento Avenue killed one person.

The incident happened at around midnight on Highway 99 near Sacramento Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a southbound Honda Accord traveling in the northbound lanes collided head-on with a northbound Honda Pilot.

Moreover, responders confirmed that the 63-year-old driver of the Honda Pilot died in the crash. Then, paramedics transported a 25-year-old passenger of the Accord to a hospital with moderate injuries. Also, Reach Air Ambulance airlifted the Accord driver to UC Davis Medical Center by Reach with major facial trauma.

Furthermore, authorities arrested the 27-year-old driver of the Accord for felony driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
