1 Person Dead in Chula Vista Auto Accident on E Street near Woodlawn Avenue

CHULA VISTA, CA (May 25, 2023) – Wednesday morning, a horrific head-on crash on E Street near Woodlawn Avenue killed one person.

The incident happened at around 6:05 a.m. on E Street near Woodlawn Avenue.

According to police Sgt. Anthony Molina, a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed veered into the turn lane and collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle that was waiting to pull into a McDonald’s parking lot.

Moreover, responding paramedics performed life-saving measures on the male driver of the causing vehicle but to no avail. Paramedics pronounced the man in his 50s dead at the scene. Then, authorities transported the female driver of the eastbound vehicle to a hospital for treatment.

Furthermore, the crash closed E Street from Woodlawn Avenue to the I-5 overpass in both directions but has long since reopened.

At this time, the circumstances involved in the crash remained unclear. When additional information became available, the public will be notified.
