2 Dead in Port Arthur Auto Accident on Texas Highway 73 and West Port Arthur Road

PORT ARTHUR, TX (June 7, 2023) – Tuesday, a horrific big rig crash on Texas Highway 73 and West Port Arthur Road killed 2 people.

The incident occurred just before midnight along eastbound Texas Highway 73 at West Port Arthur Road.

Jefferson County Precinct Seven Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett revealed that a semi-truck driver traveled behind the Dodge Charger. Then, it failed to control its speed and hit the Charger.

As a result, an adult man and woman in the Charger succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, a teenage boy was transported by helicopter to a Houston hospital in critical condition.

Also, an ambulance transported two other adults to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont but their condition remained unknown.

Moreover, the truck driver suffered no injuries in the crash.

Officers confirmed that the four adults and teenage boys in the Charger were all Cuban citizens. Also, they appeared to have been coming from an airport since they had airline tickets and luggage in the car with them.

Moreover, officers revealed that the truck driver is a man in his 50s from Houston.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
