TUKWILA, WA (October 9, 2024) – Monday night, a horrific auto accident on State Route 99 near Des Moines Memorial Drive killed 1 person.

The incident happened at about 11:30 p.m. on southbound State Route 99 near Des Moines Memorial Drive and Tukwila International Boulevard.

A driver traveling southbound on SR 99 near 116th Street veered out of their lane and struck another vehicle.

The impact caused both vehicles to roll onto the right-hand shoulder, with one landing on its passenger side and the other remaining upright on its tires. According to the incident report from WSP, drugs, alcohol, and speed were contributing factors in the crash.

WSP and the Incident Response Team kept the roadway closed for nearly seven hours.
