1 Dead in Fontana Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 10 Freeway and Cypress Avenue

FONTANA, CA (August 9, 2023) – Tuesday morning, a horrific 5-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 Freeway and Cypress Avenue killed 1 person.

The incident happened at around 3:03 a.m. on Interstate 10 Freeway and Cypress Avenue.

According to reports, a 28-year-old Pomona woman drove a 2010 Honda Civic on westbound I-10, east of Cypress Avenue, in the middle lanes. Officers confirmed that she failed to wear a seatbelt while driving.

Then, the Civic veered out of control, swerved to the left, and hit the center divider wall. As a result, the vehicle came to a stop within the westbound traffic lanes.

Meanwhile, a 23-year-old Los Angeles woman drove a 2006 Honda Accord in the westbound No. 2 lane. As she approached the disabled Civic, she failed to avoid crashing into the Civic and hit its right side. The impact led to a chain reaction, and multiple vehicles ended up hitting the Civic.

As a result of the crash, the Honda Civic driver suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, responders transported the 55-year-old Colton woman who drove a Toyota Rav4. They took her to Kaiser Hospital in Fontana with minor injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

Also, the authorities haven’t ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash.
