1 Dead in Rancho San Diego Multi-Vehicle Accident on Cuyamaca College Drive West and Jamacha Road

RANCHO SAN DIEGO, CA (July 9, 2023) – Friday afternoon, a horrific 3-car crash on Cuyamaca College Drive West and Jamacha Road killed 1 person.

The crash involving three vehicles happened at about 4:35 p.m. at Cuyumaca College Drive West and Jamacha Road.

According to reports, the driver of a black Honda Civic may have been driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Then, they went through a red light intersection of State Route 54 and Cuyamaca College Drive.

“Based on the video that I watched, the vehicle was attempting to go straight and was passing stopped traffic, and it was passing traffic in the right turn lane attempting to go straight,” Officer Jared Grieshaber with CHP revealed.

The video from a Tesla involved in the crash revealed that the Honda Civic first struck the black Nissan. Then, the Tesla.

Apparently, both vehicles tried to turn left into a shopping center.

Unfortunately, the rear passenger in the Nissan sustained unknown injuries. Meanwhile, responders took the front passenger and trasnported them to the hospital with serious injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Honda Civic suffered serious injuries. Also, the Tesla driver sustained minor injuries.

Moreover, the crash shut down all lanes on eastbound State Route 54 and Cuyamaca College Drive for several hours due to the crash, but have since reopened.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
