5 Dead in Tehama County Auto Accident on Interstate 5 and Liberal Avenue

TEHAMA COUNTY, CA (July 30, 2023) – Saturday afternoon, a horrific 2-car crash on Interstate 5 and Liberal Avenue killed 5 people.

The incident happened at about 12:44 p.m. on Interstate 5, south of Liberal Avenue near Corning.

According to reports, a car headed north on Interstate 5. Then, it went over the center divide and struck a truck pulling a travel trailer.

Moreover, the impact ejected the driver and all three passengers in the car from the vehicle. As a result, all four of them died at the scene.

Also, the truck driver succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, one passenger was transported to the hospital with major injuries.

Moreover, the authorities reopened northbound Interstate 5 lanes by 4:00 p.m. However, southbound Interstate 5 lanes remained closed with no estimated reopening time.

Then, the CHP rerouted traffic from southbound Interstate 5 to Liberal Avenue and back onto County Road 7.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
