Homero Sanchez Dies, Mariel Castaneda Injured in Turlock DUI Crash
Turlock, CA (June 21, 2021) – On Saturday, 64-year-old Homero Sanchez of Patterson died, while 26-year-old Mariel Castaneda of Atwater was injured in DUI crash on Crows Landing Road.
The fatal Turlock crash happened at about 8:30 p.m. south of Monte Vista Avenue.
Apparently, Sanchez was northbound in a 2006 Honda Civic at 45 to 50 mph. At the same time, Castaneda was southbound in a 2014 Land Rover Range Rover, moving at about the same speed.
Meanwhile, an uninvolved driver ahead of Castaneda saw Sanchez swerve into the southbound lane, all the while able to avoid an accident.
Sanchez’s vehicle drove directly into the path of Castaneda’s vehicle.
Immediately, responders began CPR on Sanchez. Then, they took him to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, where he died.
Castaneda sustained major injuries and also was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
Moreover, the authorities consider drugs and/or alcohol to have been factors in the fatal accident.
