Man Dead in Apple Valley Pedestrian Accident on Bear Valley Road
APPLE VALLEY, CA (April 6, 2021) – Sunday night, a homeless man died in a pedestrian crash on Bear Valley Road near Maumee Road.
The incident occurred at around 8:39 p.m. on Bear Valley Road near Maumee Road.
According to reports, a homeless man was outside of the High Desert liquor store while under the influence of alcohol. A white fluffy dog accompanied the man.
Then, a person tried to give the homeless man food and a leash for his dog. However, the man walked into the roadway while his dog followed. Then, a westbound dark-colored 2015 Chevy Cruz hit the pedestrian.
The crash caused the pedestrian to go through the front windshield. His body was lodged partially inside of the car.
Then, the firefighters from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District declared him dead at the scene.
The Chevy’s male driver stayed at the scene and helped the authorities. He suffered minor injuries and required hospitalization.
Also, the incident led to the closure of the westbound lanes on Bear Valley Road during the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Major Accident investigation.
