April Chapman Injured in Two-Car Crash near Yulupa Avenue
SANTA ROSA, CA (May 25, 2018)– A woman was killed on Friday morning in a two-car crash on Bennett Valley Road near Yulupa Avenue.
A white Mercedes and a gray sedan were involved in the accident that occurred at around 7:49 AM, according to California Highway Patrol. Hollie Nichole Pruden, 37, was driving to work when she lost control of her Toyota Yaris on wet pavement on Bennett Valley Rd.
Her car veered sideways into an oncoming sedan, driven by April Chapman of Santa Rosa. At the time, Chapman was traveling westbound on the same road in a Mercedes E350 when she saw the silver Yaris sliding toward her lane. She was unable to avoid the crash and her sedan struck the passenger side of the Toyota, causing it to flip and land on the driver’s side.
Witnesses stopped to render aid, but Pruden succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Chapman was taken to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with minor to moderate injuries. There is no update on her current condition.
Witnesses to the deadly crash also stated that they saw the Yaris going about 60 mph eastbound near Carrithers Road, where the speed limit is 45 mph, just before the collision. The two-vehicle accident was one of several crashes that happened on the Friday morning commute. It closed down a stretch of Bennett Valley Road between Yulupa Avenue and Grange Road until at least 10:30 AM.
The accident remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
