1 Dead in San Carlos Pedestrian Accident on 1400 El Camino Real

SAN CARLOS, CA (January 18, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, authorities arrested Hok Gwan Jong in a brutal pedestrian crash on 1400 El Camino Real.

The incident happened at about 6:57 a.m. on the 1400 block of El Camino Real.

According to reports, a 69-year-old male pedestrian from Redwood City was hit by two vehicles.

The first driver, a 27-year-old man from Redwood City, was driving north on El Camino Real when he hit the pedestrian crossing the road.

After the crash, the uninjured driver of the first vehicle has been cooperative with law enforcement. Also, officers do not suspect that drugs and alcohol played a role in the crash.

Meanwhile, another vehicle struck the victim and fled the scene. Thus, officers searched for the vehicle and found it near Harris Avenue and Adams Street in Redwood City. Then, officers arrested a 66-year-old second driver from San Mateo on suspicion of felony hit and run. He was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility.

When paramedics arrived, they attempted to revive the victim. However, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone with information about the incident to contact Deputy G. Ramirez at (650) 802-4277.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
