Officials Searching for Driver who Ran After Shingletown Crash
SHINGLETOWN, CA (July 2, 2019) — Officials are searching for a female driver who fled from the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Wilson Hill Road Saturday afternoon.
The California Highway Patrol said callers reported the crash just after 5:15 p.m. The crash occurred near Christy Creek Lane that is about two and a half miles south of Highway 44.
A 911 caller said the driver of a car lost control of the vehicle. As a result, it careened off the winding two-lane road and subsequently crashed off the south side of the roadway.
In addition, the witness said the female driver was the sole occupant of the car. However, she was seen fleeing the scene, running off into the heavy trees and brush.
Cal Fire firefighters who responded to the incident found the vehicle abandoned off the roadway. They were not able to locate the female driver.
CHP requested a tow truck to remove the car from the roadway. The CHP’s Northern Division Air Operations also dispatched an aviation crew that searched the surrounding area for the woman.
Further investigation of the hit-and-run crash is underway.
