Police Search for Hit-And-Run Driver After Crash on V Street in Merced

Merced, CA (March 8, 2024) – On Friday evening, a pedestrian died in a hit-and-run crash on V Street.

The report, at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of V Street, involved a vehicle striking a pedestrian and fleeing the scene. 

At the scene, the pedestrian tragically died from their injuries.

The search is on for an early 2000s white or light-colored Chevy SUV. 

Following the incident, around 9 p.m. on Friday, officers announced their plans to speak with witnesses and search for surveillance footage to aid the investigation.

The police have blocked off the roadway near the scene of the incident and anticipate reopening it by about 11 p.m. 

The investigation into this hit-and-run is still ongoing.
