Man Hospitalized After Hit-And-Run Crash on US Highway 190 in Cameron

Cameron, TX (August 29, 2024) – 53-year-old Jose Salvador Martinez of Mission, Texas, turned himself in after a hit-and-run crash on US Highway 190 on August 6.

Martinez is now facing charges of unsafe speed, failure to secure a load, and failure to stop and render aid in connection with an injury collision.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that a man suspected of fleeing the scene of an August 6 traffic crash that severely injured a Rogers man has surrendered to Milam County authorities. 

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers had been searching for the driver of a truck involved in the crash, which left a man trapped in his vehicle. 

The incident occurred on U.S. Highway 190, near County Road 125, within a construction zone at the underpass between Rogers and Buckholts. 

According to Sgt. Washko, the victim, a 50-year-old Rogers man, was driving a single-cab pickup west on U.S. 190, while the other vehicle, a pickup towing two additional vehicles, was heading east.

The Rogers man was trapped inside his truck’s cab and sustained serious injuries, requiring immediate medical attention. 

First responders rescued him, and he was airlifted to Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Temple. 

The driver of the other truck did not stop at the scene of the crash.
