79-Year-Old Bicyclist Dead after Hit-And-Run Crash on Synder Avenue in Modesto
Modesto, CA (August 2, 2023) – Wednesday morning, a 79-year-old man died in a hit-and-run crash on Synder Avenue.
Police said A 2012 Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound on Synder Avenue around 8:30 a.m. when the driver hit a 79-year-old man on a bicycle.
The bicyclist sustained critical injuries and later died at the hospital.
The driver of the truck initially remained at the scene, but according to police, she denied being involved in the accident and drove away.
Officers later found she was responsible and took her to the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, where she was charged with hit-and-run causing death and involuntary manslaughter.
Police did not say if the driver was an adult or a juvenile. It is also unknown if drugs or alcohol are a factor in the crash.
