Puyallup 3-Vehicle Collision Sends Driver to Hospital

Puyallup, WA (June 9, 2023) – On Tuesday night, a 37-year-old University Place woman and a 58-year-old Puyallup man were injured following a hit-and-run crash on State Route 167.

The traffic accident occurred at about 10:51 p.m. north of Gay Road.

Police said a hit-and-run driver in a 2004 Toyota Tacoma pickup was southbound while the other two drivers were northbound in the opposite lane. The pickup driver crossed the center lane and struck the woman’s car which was rear-ended by the driver behind her.

The Toyota Tacoma rested on the southbound right shoulder and the pickup driver ran from the crash scene. Officers said the driver is wanted for a felony hit and run

Police said one of the drivers suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and the other driver’s injuries were minor. They were both transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center

The Washington State Department of Transportation, WSP, and Riverside Fire & Rescue responded to the Puyallup 3-vehicle collision.

Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision

Specifically, thousands of people across Washington suffer injuries in traffic accidents every year. Although it is common, many people do not suspect what follows in the event of a traffic mishap like the hit-and-run crash on State Route 167.

Therefore, safety on the road should be the number one priority for anyone on it. Above all, it is better to be a proactive driver, rather than a reactive one. For this purpose, driving defensively prepares you for emergency situations.

Activities that take drivers’ attention off the road include using mobile phones, eating, and other distractions, which are major safety threats. Ultimately, avoid these activities at all costs when in the driver’s seat.
