Police Investigate Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash on North Fries Avenue in Wilmington

Wilmington, CA (July 3, 2023) – Monday night, a 36-year-old man died in a hit-and-run crash on North Fries Avenue.

The fatal hit-and-run crash on North Fries Avenue happened at around 9:10 p.m. on July 3.

LAPD responded to the scene at 710 N. Fries Avenue, near a Food 4 Less grocery store on reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian.

The victim, a 36-year-old man, was reportedly on the street setting off fireworks when he was struck by an SUV. 

The man was thrown a distance and landed partially under another vehicle that pulled out of the shopping center parking lot.

Officers said the man died at the crash scene.

Moreover, police confirmed overnight that the first vehicle’s driver did not stop to render aid and fled the scene. The driver was described only as a female Hispanic.

The vehicle was last seen traveling northbound on Fries Avenue from G Street.

The driver of the second vehicle did remain at the scene.
