1 Dead in Stockton Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 5 and Charter Way

STOCKTON, CA (October 23, 2024) – Early Monday morning, a devastating hit-and-run crash on Interstate 5 and Charter Way killed 1 person.

The incident involving a pedestrian and two vehicles occurred at about 12:20 a.m. on Interstate 5 and Charter Way.

A 33-year-old man entered I-5 south of Charter Way and crossed all southbound lanes, according to the CHP’s Stockton office. He proceeded into the northbound lanes and entered the #2 lane, where he was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling at an unspecified speed. The driver of that vehicle allegedly left the scene before law enforcement arrived.

Authorities reported that the pedestrian was in the #2 lane when a 2017 Honda approached at approximately 65 mph and struck him again. The driver of the Honda stopped at the scene.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead, and it remains unclear whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crashes. The CHP is urging anyone with information to contact its Stockton office at 209-938-4800.
