Injuries Reported in Startling Hit-and-Run Crash on Baker Street near East Truxtun Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 31, 2023) – Last Sunday, Issac Meza & Carmen Esqueda suffered injuries in a startling hit-and-run crash on Baker Street near East Truxtun Avenue.
The incident happened on August 27th at about 12:09 a.m. in the 600 block of Baker Street.
When the authorities arrived, they found a man and a woman down in the road.
A footage revealed that as the pedestrians crossed the street, a white car stopped just before leaving the frame. However, it suddenly reversed several feet, striking the couple.
After the crash, responders transported the male victim to a hospital and was in the ICU but had no more brain activity. Meanwhile, Carmen Esqueda was also hospitalized for fractures on her neck, arm, and spine.
The authorities described the vehicle as a four-door SUV. Apparently, the driver drove away northbound on Baker Street.
Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone with information to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
