Injuries Reported in Torrance DUI Accident on 208th Street and Western Avenue

TORRANCE, CA (March 8, 2023) – Sunday night, three people suffered injuries in a hit-and-run crash on 208th Street and Western Avenue.

The incident happened at about 10:06 p.m. on 208th Street and Western Avenue.

As a Chevy pickup truck made a left-hand turn onto 280th Street, a Volkswagen sedan drove south on Western Avenue.

Then, the two vehicles crashed, causing the Chevy to roll over and catch fire.

After the crash, the sole occupant of the Chevy managed to escape. Responders took him to the hospital and arrested him on suspicion of DUI.

Meanwhile, the Volkswagen driver escaped the crash scene on foot.

Officers noted that at least three passengers rode in the Volkswagen. However, they haven’t determined how many passengers fled with the driver.

After the crash, responders transported three patients in total. One of them came from the Chevy while the two were from the sedan.

At this time, the Volkswagen driver remained at large.

Due to the limited information available, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
