Police Search for the Driver Who Flees From Collision on South Skagit Highway
Seattle, WA (May 13, 2020)– A man was seriously injured after a hit-and-run collision on South Skagit Highway Friday evening.
The two-vehicle crash took place on May 8 around 5 p.m. involving a Honda Accord and a Chevrolet Avalanche.
State Patrol Incident report showed that the victim, a 40-year-old, Mount Vermont man was driving the Accord during the crash. Meanwhile, the suspect was driving the Chevrolet and was heading eastbound.
According to the report, the suspect crossed the center lane then it hit the Accord. Both vehicles stopped when it reached a nearby ditch.
Furthermore, the suspect flees from the scene leaving the struck victim with serious injuries, State Patrol trooper Heather Axtman said. The victim was left with multiple broken bones and internal injuries by the suspect who ran away on foot.
Police are looking for the suspect to determine what led to the collision. In addition, Axtmad said that it’s the driver’s responsibility to remain on the scene.
Towing services were requested in the area due to the extent of damage sustained.
