2 Construction Workers Fatally Struck by DUI Driver at Jamboree Road near Work Site
ORANGE, CA (May 31, 2018) – A DUI motorist was arrested Thursday evening after he struck and killed two construction workers on East Santiago Canyon Road.
According to the Orange Police Department, the collision took place just before 8:50 PM. A vehicle, driven by 30-year-old Hipolito Paez-Vazquez, was heading westbound on Santiago Canyon when it hit a parked pickup truck near Jamboree Road. Two road construction workers present in the area were fatally injured in the crash.
Investigators believe that the unidentified victims were setting up signs for construction work in the area, which was a project of a private company. Paez-Vazquez remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. He was later arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
No other information was immediately disclosed to the public.
