Deadly Highway 99 3-Vehicle Collision Claims Elk Grove Motorist Life [Sacramento, CA]

Sacramento, CA (January 31, 2024) On Monday morning, a 47-year-old Elk Grove man died in the Highway 99 3-vehicle collision.

According to the CHP, the catastrophic rear-end crash happened at about 8 a.m. on northbound Highway 99 near Mack Road.

Reports say that a 2020 Ford F-320, driven by a 21-year-old Patterson man, rear-ended the 2000 Toyota the Elk Grove victim was driving.

Officials say that the Toyota slowed down due to the 2022 GMC in front of it had decreased speed in traffic. However, the Patterson man failed to slow down and crashed into the back of the Elk Grove man’s vehicle.

The impact of the collision pushed the Toyota towards the GMC in front, the GMC driver was identified as a 53-year-old man from Herald.

Medics rushed the Elk Grove man to the hospital with serious injuries, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Tuesday.

Authorities are investigating the fatal 2-vehicle collision and have not released further details at this time.
