Minor Injuries Reported in Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Matilija Creek
Ojai, CA (January 7, 2023) On Friday afternoon, a 2-vehicle accident on Highway 33 claimed the life of a motorcycle rider and injured several others.
CHP says that the fatal motorcycle crash happened at around 2:45 p.m. north of the north fork of Matilija Creek.
Reports say that a northbound 2014 Yamaha motorcycle crossed the double-yellow lines and collided with the front end of a northbound 2021 Hyundai.
Officials say that a 48-year-old man was driving the Hyundai and had 3 passengers; a 45 year-old woman and 2 juvenile boys. One is 12 and another is 8. Moreover, all occupants of the Hyundai are from Claremont.
Paramedics say that the occupants of the HYundai did not suffer any serious injuries, although 2 complained on pain and the 8-year-old boy suffered seatbelt abrasions.
Ventura County Fire Department pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Officials have not released his identification, pending notification of family
The CHP’s Ventura-area office is investigating the 2-vehicle accident and have not provided additional information at this time.
