According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the fatal 2-vehicle collision happened at about 11:25 p.m. at Sand Canyon Road and Sierra Highway.
Reports say that the crash involved a black truck and a white SUV.
Officials say that the black truck was traveling at high speed before the fatal collision.
Authorities pronounced a person dead at the scene, while medics transported 4 people to the hospital.
