Driver Killed in Head-On Crash in Cotati Identified
COTATI, CA (August 27, 2019) – The driver who died in a head-on crash on Stony Point Road in Cotati has been identified by authorities as Herbert Robison, 77, of Petaluma.
The crash happened around 4:08 p.m. near Railroad Avenue.
According to the CHP, Robison was driving a black Chevrolet SUV when his car was hit by a GMC Yukon that had drifted across double yellow lines into his lane. The cars then collided head-on.
Robison died at the scene. His Border Collie dog was also killed in the crash.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the Yukon driver, 60-year-old Roger Coryell of Guerneville, to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
CHP issued a traffic alert just after 5:00 p.m., with Stony Point Road blocked in both directions. Officials warned drivers to avoid using Stony Point Road from Cotati to Petaluma.
The fatal crash is still under investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact CHP officers at 707‑588‑1400.
