83-Year-Old Desert Hot Springs Man Fatally Injured in Accident on Mountain View Road
CATHEDRAL CITY, CA (May 7, 2018) – On Monday evening, an 83-year old Desert Hot Springs man was killed and two others were hospitalized after a crash on Varner Road and Mountain View Road.
The collision occurred just before 8:50 PM when a northbound Cadillac on Mountain View veered into the southbound lanes, for reasons not yet confirmed, crashing into a Plymouth in the southbound lane. Another vehicle, a Honda, was successful in avoiding the collision, but veered off the road and went into a dirt embankment.
The driver of the Cadillac, identified as Henry Dookie, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passengers of the Plymouth sustained serious injuries and were transported to an area hospital, while the driver of the Honda was uninjured.
Mountain View Road was closed from Varner to Dillon after the collision. Authorities are still investigating the fatal accident to determine the exact cause.
