DUI Suspect Dies after Police Chase near 111th Street
INGLEWOOD, CA (February 9, 2019) – A man was killed early Saturday morning following a DUI accident near 111th Street. The motorist was later identified as 28-year-old Hector Eduardo Santa Rosa of Hawthorne.
According to the Inglewood Police Department, the incident happened at 2:10 AM. Officers attempted to catch a gray Dodge Charger that was erratically speeding northbound on Dalerose Avenue.
At 2:20 AM, dispatch received a call about an overturned vehicle in the 1230 block of Rosewood Avenue. Officers responded and discovered the gray Dodge Charger that was being followed earlier.
Santa Rosa, the driver and the sole occupant of the vehicle, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles County Fire Department. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
Investigators believe that alcohol and/or drugs were involved in the fatal crash. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the wreck and to identify other possible contributing factors. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the authorities as soon as possible. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
