41-Year-Old Heather Sevier Died in Santa Maria Head-On Collision
SANTA MARIA, CA (December 12, 2018) – A 41-year-old woman identified as Heather Sevier from Bakersfield was killed in a semi-truck accident on highway 166 west of Cottonwood Canyon Road.
Officials stated that around 1:54 AM a 1996 Ford F250 driven by Sevier was traveling eastbound when for unknown reasons her truck drifted into the westbound lane and collided with a semi-truck.
The driver of the semi-truck was identified as 31-year-old Miguel Ayala Jr. Ayala, who tried to slow down but was unable to avoid the crash. Both vehicles went off the roadway, the big rig rolled onto its side while the Ford engulfed into flames.
First responders arrived and pronounced Sevier dead at the scene.
It was reported that Ayala was not injured. When authorities attempted to recover the 18 wheeler carrying crude oil, the tank ruptured and caused a large spill.
No additional information has been released, as the investigation continues.
We express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Heather Sevier.
