Corning, California (March 25, 2020) – California Highway Patrol in its press release last Monday reported a head-on crash between a 2011 Nissan Altima and a 2015 Mack semi-truck on Sunday, March 21.
The semi-truck, carrying a tanker trailer loaded with diesel, was heading westbound on South Avenue.
Richard L. Murphy, 64, was driving the truck when he crashed with a Nissan Altima, head-on.
It was around 10:30 in the evening when the Nissan driver was going eastbound on South Avenue. The driver drifted into the westbound lane, causing the head-on crash with Murphy in the semi-truck.
Eventually, both vehicles blocked the roadway of South Avenue.
Responders pronounced the Nissan driver dead on the scene, while Murphy acquired only minor injuries.
The release said it is still unclear whether alcohol or drugs factored into the crash.
Furthermore, both drivers were confirmed to be wearing seatbelts, and were not carrying any passengers.
