1 Dead in Fresno County Auto Accident on State Route 296 and Ford Avenue

FRESNO COUNTY, CA (August 11, 2024) – Saturday morning, a brutal head-on crash on State Route 296 and Ford Avenue killed 1 person.

The incident occurred just before 1:30 a.m. on State Route 296, north of Ford Avenue, outside of Coalinga.

Police reported that a man was driving a truck in the southbound lane when a Tesla, traveling northbound, veered into the southbound lane. 

A passenger in the Tesla was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were transported to Community Regional Medical Center. 

The reason why the Tesla ended up in the wrong lane remains unclear, though authorities do not suspect alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
