MESA, AZ (May 3, 2023) – Last April 8, Harly Sellers died in a DUI crash on Highway 87 near McDowell Road.

The incident involving two vehicles happened at about 8:00 p.m. on State Route 87, near McDowell Road and Gilbert Road.

According to reports, 26-year-old Hilario Ortiz Cruz drove a Ford F-150 south unlicensed and impaired under the influence of both alcohol and drugs.

Then, he lost control of the truck, drove across lanes, and struck 29-year-old Sellers driving a Honda Accord.

Moreover, responders took both drivers to a hospital where Sellers later succumbed to injuries.

Meanwhile, Ortiz Cruz received treatment for his injuries and was later arrested. He’s currently facing various charges including manslaughter, DUI, and extreme DUI.
