Haider Ali Mamin of Sugar Land Killed in FM 485 Collision [Milam County, TX]

Milam County, TX (Aug. 4, 2023) – On Wednesday, 61-year-old Haider Ali Mamin of Sugar Land was killed in an FM 485 collision.

The Texas Department of Transportation officers responded at approximately 3:50 p.m. to the crash scene at about 1.5 miles east of Branchville.

Officers said a 2014 Chevrolet Express passenger van driven by Haider Ali Mamin was eastbound on FM-485.

 At the same time, a 2017 Dodge Durango SUV driven by a 19-year-old man from Hamilton was westbound on the same road in the eastbound lane approaching the van.  

Haider Ali Mamin swerved to the left into the eastbound lane to avoid a traffic crash. However, the Dodge driver swerved to the right to get back into their lane. As a result, the two vehicles collided head-on in the westbound lane. 

Justice of the Peace Gary Northcott declared Haider Ali Mamin deceased at the scene.

The paramedics rushed the Hamilton man to Scott and White with incapacitating injuries.
