1 Dead in Sacramento Pedestrian Accident on Highway 51
SACRAMENTO, CA (June 16, 2020) – Early Saturday morning, Gustavo Sampedrosanche was arrested after a fatal crash on Highway 51.
According to the officers, they received reports of a person on northbound Highway 51 near the P Street onramp about 12:43 a.m. Reports said that the person kept yelling at vehicles and running in and out of traffic lanes.
As the officers went to the scene, they received a report that a silver Volkswagen probably struck the pedestrian.
Upon their arrival, officers saw a silver Volkswagen with damaged windshield damage drove away.
According to some witnesses, Volkswagen initially stopped after the incident.
Furthermore, a short time later, the authorities found a stopped vehicle that matched the description of the suspected vehicle on southbound Highway 51.
The CHP officials revealed that 44-year-old driver Gustavo Sampedrosanche said that he noticed that he struck someone. He even stood on the shoulder after the incident. However, after seeing patrol cars arriving, he felt scared.
The authorities then booked Sampedrosanche into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
Moreover, the police ruled out drugs and alcohol as a factor in the incident.
The officials also confirmed that the pedestrian succumbed to fatal injuries.
