55-Year-Old Driver Killed in Chain-Reaction Crash on Highway 58

Bakersfield, CA (March 4, 2023) – On Thursday, 24-year-old Gurwinder Singh of Lodi was injured in a fatal crash on Highway 58 that killed a 55-year-old Bakersfield man.

Authorities say that a chain-reaction crash happened at the intersection with H Street.

Singh was driving a 2016 Kenworth tractor with a trailer that struck the Bakersfield man’s GMC Sierra. Incidentally, the collision caused a chain of crashes.

Singh’s vehicle also collided with a Toyota Tacoma. The impact overturned the vehicle and struck a trailer attached to a Volvo. Furthermore, the Volvo, driven by a 40-year-old Salt Lake City man, collided with a 2014 Peterbilt driven by another Bakersfield male driver.

Officials pronounced the Bakersfield man dead at the scene. Paramedics transported Gurwinder Singh to Kern Medical with major injuries.

Investigating officers said impairment was not a factor in the chain-reaction crash.
