Guadalupe Romero Killed in Crash on Interstate 880 near Floresta Boulevard [San Leandro, CA]

Guadalupe Romero Fatally Struck and 6 Hospitalized in San Leandro Accident on I-880

 
SAN LEANDRO, CA (January 10, 2021) – Early Saturday morning, Guadalupe Romero died, while six more sustained injuries in a vehicle crash on Interstate 880 near Floresta Boulevard.
 
According to California Highway Patrol, at around 1:00 a.m., authorities responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash. The incident happened on I-880, near the Floresta Boulevard overpass.
 
CHP Officer Dustin Kennerly revealed that a northbound vehicle on I-880 rear-ended another vehicle.
 
Moreover, the crash caused the second vehicle to rollover. Then, the force of the crash also ejected one person from the vehicle.
 
CHP said that after responders arrived at the scene, a Good Samaritan pulled over and assisted the victims of the crash.
 
However, a vehicle uninvolved in the original accident struck and killed the Good Samaritan, CHP added.
 
According to Alameda County Fire, responders transported victims to area hospitals including Eden Medical Center and Highland Hospital. Furthermore, the victims’ injuries ranged from severe to moderate.
 
Officers arrested an unidentified driver on suspicion of driving under the influence.
 
The mass casualty incident is under active investigation.
 
Authorities later revealed the identity of the Good Samaritan as 39-year-old Guadalupe Romero.
