Guadalupe Alvarez Salgado Killed in Crippling Pedestrian Crash on Towne Avenue [Pomona, CA]

1 Dead in Pomona Pedestrian Accident on Towne Avenue and Lexington Avenue

POMONA, CA (May 30, 2024) – Tuesday night, Guadalupe Alvarez Salgado died in a crippling pedestrian crash on Towne Avenue.

The incident happened at about 8:00 p.m. at the intersection of Towne Avenue and Lexington Avenue.

Mireya Alvarez and her younger sister, “Lupita,” were returning home from a store with their mother when they were struck by a vehicle at an intersection, according to a family friend. 

The two sisters were walking slightly ahead of their mother when the incident occurred. Responding officers found them lying in the roadway with severe injuries. While the 19-year-old Mireya was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive, first responders were unable to save the younger child.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. No arrests have been made. The crash site was just steps away from the victims’ home.

The sisters’ parents stayed with Mireya at the hospital. 

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page has been established to support the family.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone with information to contact the Pomona Police Department at (909) 802-7741. Information can also be provided anonymously via “Crime Stoppers” at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
