23-Year-Old Kern County Woman Killed in Pedestrian Collision near Sonoma Boulevard

 
VALLEJO, CA (January 22, 2019) – A woman was killed Tuesday evening following a pedestrian crash near Sonoma Boulevard. The victim was later identified as 23-year-old Gretchen Elliott, a resident of Kern County.
 
According to the Vallejo Police Department, the incident happened on Lewis Brown Drive, at about 6:58 PM. The pedestrian was walking outside of a crosswalk when she was struck by a black Kia Soul.
 
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and transported Elliott to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff. Meanwhile, the 52-year-old man driving the vehicle remained to render aid and cooperated with investigators.
 
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal accident and to determine possible contributing factors. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the authorities as soon as possible. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
