Pedestrian in Wheelchair Gregory Wright Struck and killed by Vehicle in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, CA (May 31, 2019) – Gregory Wright was killed in a pedestrian crash early Friday morning on Mack Road.
The crash happened around 3:30 a.m., at the intersection of Mack Road and Center Parkway. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
According to the California Highway Patrol, 63-year-old Gregory Wright was crossing Mack Road near Center Parkway in his wheelchair. There, a westbound BMW sedan struck him, causing life-threatening injuries.
The driver stopped and called police immediately after the collision. Wright was later pronounced dead on scene due to the impact.
Furthermore, the intersection was closed for hours while crews worked to clean the scene. The surrounding roadway was eventually reopened just after 8:30 a.m.
At this time, speed, drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a role in the crash. Further investigation is currently underway.
