82-Year-Old Norwalk Man Identified after Bike-Car Crash at Claressa Avenue
NORWALK, CA (April 6, 2018) – An elderly man was struck and killed when riding his bike on the intersection of Mapledale Street and Claressa Avenue, early Friday morning.
The deceased victim was identified as 82-year-old Gregorio Martin Gonzalez of Norwalk, according to Ed Winter, the spokesman for the coroner’s office. He reportedly died of blunt trauma and his death was ruled as an accident.
Police officials and paramedics arrived at the scene around 7:46 AM, and pronounced the man dead from injuries sustained. Detective Steve Boyer of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated that the biker went around a parked car, going the wrong way on eastbound Mapledale, when a vehicle hit him.
The fatal accident continues to be under investigation by authorities. The driver was not arrested, and it is unclear whether charges will be filed.
