Man Fatally Struck by Semi-Truck near 8th Avenue
GREELEY, CO (May 9, 2018) – A pedestrian collision on US 85 in north Greeley, claimed the life of a man, early Wednesday morning.
According to the Greeley Police, the collision happened around 3 AM in the 400 block of US 85. A JBS semi-truck carrying a load of beef was heading south at about 40 miles per hour when a man suddenly appeared on the highway. The driver tried to avoid the pedestrian by braking heavily, but it was not enough to prevent the collision.
The semi-truck driver stopped at the scene and immediately called 911. The police arrived at the scene at 3:13 AM and the injured pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. To conduct an investigation, areas affected in the 400 block of 8th Avenue were temporarily shut down.
The pedestrian’s identity was not confirmed by the Weld County Coroner’s Office, pending notification of the family. No other information is available to the public at this time.
