Man Fatally Injured in Motorcycle Crash with Car on 118 Freeway near Balboa Boulevard
GRANADA HILLS, CA (March 2, 2018) – A motorcyclist was killed in an accident on the 118 Freeway near Balboa Boulevard, early Friday morning.
The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig Alert for the westbound 118 highway, because of the fatal accident involving a motorcycle and a passenger car. Ed Winter, the spokesman of the Coroner’s office, said that the victim was in his 50s.
No other information regarding the cause of the accident or people involved have been mentioned at this time.
As of 6:23 AM, all lanes of the highway were closed except for the far right lane. An hour later, the right three lanes opened up, but traffic was still backed up all the way to the 5 freeway. All lanes opened around 8:30 AM.
The cause of the fatal accident is currently under investigation by authorities. The identity of the man has not yet been released, pending the notification of his family.
