Vehicle Accident on WB HWY 120 Kills Passenger
Escalon, CA (August 31, 2023) – On Sunday, 21-year-old Gracie Serna of Stockton lost her life following a vehicle accident on Highway 20.
The CHP officers received the accident report at about 6:30 p.m. east of Harrold Avenue.
Investigating officers said Serna was a passenger in a 2016 Ram that was westbound on the freeway.
The Ram driver was traveling at approximately 35 to 45 miles per hour. Apparently, the Ram driver driver observed an unknown black vehicle tailgating them.
Serna was the middle rear passenger and was leaning her head out the right rear passenger window which is unknown to the driver. The CHP report stated that Serna was ill and had her head outside the vehicle not to be sick inside the vehicle.
The Ram driver swerved to the right side of the roadway partially on the shoulder so the unknown vehicle could pass.
However, as the driver drove to the right, the right side of the Ram crashed into a wooden post holding a traffic sign for the approaching intersection of Harrold Avenue.
Serna struck the post and the force of the impact resulted to fatal injuries. Responding officers declared Gracie Serna deceased at the scene.
There were no other injuries reported in this accident and the authorities did not say how many passengers were in the Ram. There is also no information on the black vehicle that passed by the Ram when it moved to the right shoulder.
