Two People Critically Injured after DUI Crash on Scholar Way near Eastvale Elementary School

EASTVALE, CA (June 4, 2018) – Two people were hospitalized and one woman was arrested following a suspected DUI crash, late Monday afternoon. 19-year-old Grace Whitman of Rancho Cucamonga was allegedly drunk when her vehicle plowed into another vehicle near Eastvale Elementary School.
According to witness reports, the collision took place shortly before 5:00 PM.
A gray Subaru, driven by Whitman, was heading west on Schleisman Road and entering Scholar Way when it crashed into a southbound black Toyota sedan.
Two unidentified occupants inside the Toyota were trapped and had to be freed with the help of “Jaws of Life”. Both of them sustained major to life-threatening injuries and were transported by ground ambulances to area hospitals. Details and updates about their condition were not immediately available.
The initial investigation determined that Whitman entered the intersection in a red light before colliding with the Toyota. It was also confirmed that she was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
As per online jail records, Whitman was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of one count of driving while under the influence of alcohol and causing injury, and one count of driving while under the influence with a blood alcohol content over .08 and causing injury. Hours later, Whitman was released after posting $50,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall Of Justice on August 7, 2018.
