6-Year-Old Struck and Killed by Drunk Driver on Lombard Drive near Gage Avenue
FULLERTON, CA (February 17, 2018) – A tragic accident took place on the 1400 block of Lombard Drive, when a little girl was struck and killed by a drunk driver on Saturday afternoon.
The young victim was identified by the coroner’s office as Grace Aguilar, 6, of Fullerton. Around 2:15 PM, 52-year-old Maximino Delgado of Anaheim was driving under the influence in a 1992 Toyota 4Runner going east on Gage Avenue. He tried to make a southbound turn onto Lombard Dr, but lost control and drove onto the sidewalk.
Aguilar was playing in the front yard of her home when the car struck her. Delgado continued to drive on the drivewalk and went back on the road, trying to flee from the scene. He was unsuccessful when he drove into a parked car on Lombard Dr.
According to Sgt. Jon Radus, Delgado’s blood alcohol level was .23 percent, which is significantly over the .08 percent limit. The drunk driver was arrested and booked for driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. He is currently in jail with a $2 million bail.
